He asked the chief of staff for permission not to eat these unacceptable foods.<\/p>\n<p><b>1 Corinthians 2:2 (NKJV) <\/b><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">2 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0For I <strong>determined<\/strong> not to know anything among you except Jesus Christ and Him crucified.<\/p>\n<p><b>Mark 7:6-13 (NKJV) <\/b><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">6 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0He answered and said to them, <span class=\"JesusWords\">&#8220;Well did Isaiah prophesy of you hypocrites, as it is written:<\/span> <span class=\"poetry2\"><span class=\"JesusWords\"><i>&#8216;This people honors Me with their lips,<\/i><\/span><\/span> <span class=\"poetry2\"><span class=\"JesusWords\"><i>But their heart is far from Me.<\/i><\/span><\/span> <span class=\"poetry2\"><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">7 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0<span class=\"JesusWords\"><i>And in vain they worship Me,<\/i><\/span> <span class=\"JesusWords\"><i>Teaching as doctrines the commandments of men.&#8217;<\/i><\/span> <span class=\"ind\"><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">8 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0<span class=\"JesusWords\">&#8220;For laying aside the commandment of God, you hold the tradition of men<\/span><span class=\"JesusWords\">&#8211;the washing of pitchers and cups, and many other such things you do.&#8221;<\/span><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">9 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0He said to them, <span class=\"JesusWords\">&#8220;<i>All too<\/i> well you reject the commandment of God, that you may keep your tradition.<\/span><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">10 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0<span class=\"JesusWords\">For Moses said, <i>&#8216;Honor your father and your mother&#8217;;<\/i><\/span><span class=\"JesusWords\"> and, <i>&#8216;He who curses father or mother, let him be put to death.&#8217;<\/i><\/span><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">11 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0<span class=\"JesusWords\">But you say, &#8216;If a man says to his father or mother, &#8220;Whatever profit you might have received from me <i>is<\/i> Corban&#8221;&#8211;&#8216; (that is, a gift <i>to God),<\/i><\/span><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">12 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0<span class=\"JesusWords\">then you no longer let him do anything for his father or his mother,<\/span><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">13 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0<span class=\"JesusWords\">making the word of God of no effect through your tradition which you have handed down.
